“BLADDER“

Bladder infections are normally called cystitis meaning inflammation.

Bladder infections normally only occur in women, it very rarely occurs in men. Women have a shorter urethra than men. The urethra is the tube that carries the urine from the bladder and as it is only about one and a half inches long it makes it easier for bacteria to get to the bladder.

Bladder infections are not a serious disease if caught early but recurrences may lead to kidney problems.

The symptoms for bladder infections are a burning sensation when emptying the bladder. Painful urination is often accompanied by vomiting, fever, chills, bloody urine and back pain.

If you experience pain or difficulty with urination this could be a sign of a sexually transmitted disease, vaginal infection, kidney stone, enlargement of the prostrate or a bladder or prostate tumor.
